May Income Report

Every month I will be documenting my income from all of my side hustles. As I am just starting out some (more like all) of these amounts will be very little or even nothing. In full future me style though I’m going to include things that I may not even be doing yet because I know that in the future these things will be bringing in an income.

Rideshare Income $0.00

Eventually I will have to go out driving again, sooner rather than later. As I’ve talked about in the past this is a great thing when you don’t have money and important for my financial future. But with working a full time job as well as running everything else it just isn’t currently a priority.

 Blog Income $0.00

Nothing really to report here, there has been no sponsored posts (something I’m not sure I’ll do again anyway), no affiliate sales, and not enough ad money to cash out. Hopefully this changes in the months to come.

Freelance Income $1261.70

The “big month” I spoke of a few months ago finally came in. I had done some of this work all the way back in February but didn’t get paid for everything until May.

I’ve learned a lot about freelancing and running a business in general, the foremost thing is that you don’t necessarily get paid right away for work. I have some clients that pay as soon as a project is done, some that pay on the first of the month for work done the prior month, and others that can take several months to pay. It makes things interesting, and shows the importance of continuing to work whether I think I’ll need the money or not.

If you have any suggestions or maybe a freelance opportunity that you have please let me know by contacting me at tjphilbrook@IamTheFutureMe.com.

Amazon FBA Income $1693.33 Cost $1432.87

A really good number here, although once you factor in the cost it turns into next to nothing. Truth is I could have left this alone a long time ago and just kept spending the same money over and over and just take the profit, however I want this business to continue to grow so I keep reinvesting the profit.

Misc. Income $117.00

This will be discussed in July at length, probably it’s own blog post, but for now it’s just “misc. income”

Wrap Up

My ultimate goal is to get all of the side income to match or surpass mine and my wife’s current 9 to 5 income.

Monthly Income Needed: $3,000
Side Income Total: $3,072.03
Difference: +72.03
YOY Increase: $1,668.28 or 118.8%

So May turned out to be my biggest income month ever, even beating Decembers numbers. Just like in December Amazon was a huge part of those numbers, however freelance was equally important.

On top of that it was a YOY increase of 118%, imagine going to your boss and asking for a 118% raise this year, what would they say? I’m going to guess no, maybe even laughing about it.

Next Month

This part of the monthly review seems odd to write since the month of June ends tomorrow, however I’ll put a few things in about what happened in June.

Started the month by taking a few weeks off for some personal things, and that led to some problems when I came back making it almost impossible to get any work done on my business.

I was able to keep up with my client work, and some Amazon work, but writing for this site didn’t happen. I figure though that since I will be writing everyday for the month of July that it will more than makeup for the lack of communication this month. If not I’m sorry.

  1. Tyler, this is awesome!! So you’ve already gotten to the $3k mark, are you psyched? Is it sooner than you expected or right on schedule? It’s great to know you could take some time off and still be able to hit your goal mark, what do you think it means for the future when you’re writing everyday? 😉

    1. Well it’s the second time I’ve hit the $3k mark, my goal now is to hit that every month we’ll see how that goes. I’m pretty excited to see what happens in the future but only time will tell. I am currently working on July’s everyday writing articles. I have the topics picked out and just need to start writing them each, some are financial, some are about me we’ll see how the readers like it.
