May Income Report

Every month I will be documenting my income from all of my side hustles. As I am just starting out some (more like all) of these amounts will be very little or even nothing. In full future me style though I’m going to include things that I may not even be doing yet because I know that in the future these things will be bringing in an income.

I just want to start off with this is almost 3 times my largest month yet. I really feel like the work I have been putting in is starting to pay off.

Rideshare Income $58.22, Miles Driven 116 ,Time Hours 3.5

To be honest, driving has become something I do near the end of the month when I realize that I will have nothing to put on the blog if I don’t go out and drive. I have some goals I want to reach with driving this year, like to hit 200 rides this year so that lyft will give me my own 1099 (currenly at 81).

Another goal is that they are now offering a fleece jacket if you complete 1,000 rides, of which I’m not even close.

It won’t be hard though, with the increase demand, the deals lyft keeps doing to get more people interested, and the fact the rates have gone up, I will be doing more of this in the future.

 Blog Income $0.00

Still nothing, I only have the lyft affiliate links on the site here (see above) and I haven’t been pushing people to it that well I guess. I’m hoping to do a series of articles soon just on driving for lyft, we’ll see.

I have some big plans for the site, but finding the time is becoming more and more difficult. I’m just going to have to do it though, not really for the income but because I think the changes I want to make will benefit a lot of people.

Freelance Income $23.72

A little lower than last month, but I’m happy with it. Right now I’m focusing on getting my name out there, I have guest posted on a site now and will probably be pitching a few more sites this month in hopes to draw more clients.

Amazon FBA Income $1154.31

Best month ever!

I hope to duplicate, and continue growing this income because it has thus far been the best income I have found.

Earlier this month I started a guide to selling on Amazon FBA, and it has helped some people. I also have started offering coaching if you look at my hire me page.

Now there are some things to keep in mind when looking at this LARGE (in my opinion) number.

First, I purchased the pro seller and now get all of the money owed every two weeks, so they put all the money that was already owed to me from April and put it in my first payment of May.

Second, there is a cost involved in buying merchandise. It’s difficult to tell exactly how much the cost was because the income was from over 2 months, and though I keep track of my expenses I’m not sure how to do it so it makes the most sense.

For instance, if I were to give you the expenses for May it would include several hundred dollars worth of inventory that has yet to arrive to amazon so it wouldn’t fit with the income. That being said I think that is the most fair way to express the actual profit or at least the easiest so that, starting next month, is what I’ll do.

Misc. Income $167.5

Random income stream that I haven’t discussed openly on the blog yet.

Wrap Up

My ultimate goal is to get all of the side income to match or surpass mine and my wife’s current 9 to 5 incomes.

Monthly Income Needed: $3,000
Side Income Total: $1403.75
Difference: $1596.25

46.7% there. Wow what A huge jump, I’m very much looking forward to what I can do in the future months.

Next Month

For the month of June, I have a huge vacation planned but will have some posts go live well I’m away. I will be in the middle of the woods and may not have access to the internet but a few times so keep that in mind if you’re trying to reach me.

I’ve also found a way to fund the Amazon business more fully so that it can produce the income I now know is possible to produce.

On the blog itself I’m going to have a couple articles on driving for lyft, and some more random personal finance articles as always. If you have any suggestions on what you would like to hear on the blog please either leave them in the comments or reach out to me directly.

How was your month? Did you make as much as you had anticipated? What are you going to do differently this month to make sure you become the “future me”? Commit to it now by telling us in the comments bellow.

  1. Way to kill it with the Amazon FBA sales! I’ve been tempted to start doing this but shy away because of the time it will take to get started and the uncertainty of whether things will sell. I started to read your guide and it is beginning to change my mind! Looking forward to seeing how you do next month!
